Summary from Goodreads:
Join part angel Jonah Stone as he faces his biggest challenge yet!

Many months have passed since part angel siblings Jonah, Eliza, and Jeremiah Stone began their angelic training. As part angels, or "quarterlings," the siblings joined other children of nephilim to begin honing their special powers.

In this third installment in the Son of Angels series, Jonah's story comes to resemble a modern-day Job as he's faced with trials that affect his health, strength, relationships, and most-prized possessions. As he and the other quarterlings prepare for mid-term exams, their powers are tested once again in the most fierce battle against Abaddon's forces yet. Will Jonah's faith in Elohim continue to persevere as he fights Abaddon in his hardest battle yet?

Parents today are looking for fiction that makes Christianity and the Bible exciting for their kids. This series is the first Christian answer to Percy Jackson and the Olympians, the Kane Chronicles, the Secret Series, and other middle-grade series packed with action, adventure, and supernatural fights. But the message is solidly based in Scripture, conveying God is always in control.

Shadow Chaser – A personal story…

Some things you write are more personal than others.  Without a doubt, Shadow Chaser is my most personal book to date.

I try to weave themes from the Bible through each of my books.  In Fire Prophet, a major undercurrent was the story of Elijah the prophet.  If you look carefully, you can see elements of Elijah’s story emerge in Jonah, as well as the mysterious prophet.

In Shadow Chaser, without giving too much away, the theme running through the book is the story of Job.  Job was a righteous man, and because of this, God decided to let Satan test him – as long as he doesn’t lay a finger on Job himself.  (Some reward for being righteous, right?)  But his family and household are all fair game.  And God has a plan in this.

Shadow Chaser is about Jonah Stone dealing with the attacks of Abaddon all around him.  His friends…his family…all the while trying to figure out what is going on.  He’s even visited by the angel of sickness himself.  In the end, he and his family suffer a loss that will push all of them to the limit of their faith.

My family knows what it’s like to experience loss.  My wife, Susan, passed away from breast cancer two and a half years ago.  We have three kids, who are now 13, 11, and 8.  We’ve all walked through significant grief during that time.

So the theme for the book came naturally.  I think loss, and what we do with it, is common in all of our lives.  Just because you may be a Christian, doesn’t mean you are immune to it.

I hope that this story is not only an entertaining, exciting tale – but one in which kids learn that we all go through hard things, and that in spite of how it may feel, God is always with us.
